where I live

Where I live: Elsah, IL. It's not very big, but it's so awesome, (though we could use some more kids here). Actually, yes, if you are a kid, and you are reading this, start making your plans to move here. Anyway, Elsah is like the coolest place ever.

Facts about Elsah:

population: Somewhere between 75 and 100

hotels: Three bed and breakfast inns: the Green Tree Inn, the Maple Leaf Cottages, and the Corner Nest.
OR - the Elsah folk are very nice. If you knock on a door, someone will usually let you in.
OR - feel like a mountain man? Bring a tent and sleep in the woods. (I don't know where that came from).

visitor attractions:
We have a historic Elsah museum. Note about the museum - if you come in on a saturday, I'll probably be there fooling around wasting time.
Museum hours: 1:00 - 4:00 pm, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Other main attractions include the basketball hoop at the civic center, the Vandermark's rope swing, and the Pierson's trampoline.

dining: we have one restaurant called My Just Desserts. Keep in mind that it serves more than just dessert. They also have sandwiches and salads and soups and dinner stuff. I never really understood the name.

shopping: we have a resale shop where you can probably find anything you could possibly need, as long as you don't care if it's been used... a lot.
Also, we sell postcards, books, toys, paintings, photographs, and other junk at the museum.

night life: Elsah night life. oh yes. You can either call or email me to find out movie times for our several home theaters here in Elsah. Movies currently playing: Drop Dead Fred, and Napoleon Dynamite.

about the Elsah folk: No, we are not Amish. Upon driving into Elsah, you will NOT see women in bonnets, men in straw hats and overalls, or horse-drawn carriages. Well, you might once in a while. Actually, you will probably see a lot of people like that. Also, please do not offer food to the residents. They might get vicious. Do not try to touch them either. Staring is discouraged, but you can if you really really want to. The Elsah folk will probably just stare back. Note: if you see a small Amish man holding out a tin can, do not offer him money. He is only pretending to be Amish.
